We always welcome Scout projects (Eagle / Gold Award). We love having the opportunity to collaborate with a scout to help meet a need we have and they hit all of their goals to secure their scout badge(s).

Past Eagle Scout projects have included:
Vaulting stretching barrels with handles, an outdoor picnic table and guests benches, outdoor bench seating, activity stand, outdoor covered seating area, etc.

We are always in need of additional activities for our clients and guests to enjoy and enhance their therapeutic experience at The American Therapeutic Riding Center.

About American Therapeutic Riding Center

Location:

397 N. 177th W. Ave., PO Box 880, Sand Springs, OK 74063, US

Mission Statement

Our purpose in this world is to provide healing to the people who need it, education to people who seek it and promote a sense of community though the use of equine assisted therapy.

Description

We provide Equine Assisted Services (EAS) to individuals with special needs. A legal diagnosis is required and a referral by a counselor, medical professional, social worker and/or therapist. We serve ages up to mid sixties. We serve seven public schools through therapeutic riding (elementary spec ed) and/or working with counselors (elementary and high school) in trauma informed small groups, groups and individuals.

Accomplishments:
07-07-2021: We received a $25,000 grant from the "Christopher and Dana Reeves" Direct Effect of Quality of Life Program.
05-31-2023: We completed a twelve month pilot project "Trauma Informed Small Groups" with the State Department of Education Climate Control.

Volunteers have the opportunity to enjoy country life while helping others through Equine Assisted Services. Give back to our community, obtain a corporate volunteer day or needed educational hours (including higher education: observation, field site opportunity, internships, research, etc.) or simply giving your time and talents to help others.
