The Volunteer provides patient care, bereavement, errands, and/or office support services according to his/her experiences and training, and in compliance with Ohio Living Home Health and Hospice policies.
Essential Activities and Tasks
Within the limits of authorized inter-company and community policies, procedures, programs and budgets, this position has responsibility for and/or will perform the flowing:

Essential Duties:
- Serves as an integral member of the Hospice interdisciplinary Group amid various settings: Home care; respite; impatient; bereavement and /or administrative; office duties.
- Performs tasks as assigned and serves the patient and family/caregiver under guidance of nurse or as a part of the administrative team.
- Serves as a substitute family/caregiver in the home performing activities that the volunteer has been prepared for and has agreed to perform. The volunteer may do homemaker chores, run errand, and provide respite care as well. Only works with patients as assigned.
- Provides input into the plan of care and interdisciplinary meetings as appropriate.

Essential Duties:
- Documents hours and services as instructed maintaining confidentiality.
- Provides availability on a regular basis and/or keeping with the patient and family/caregiver needs.
- Participates in volunteer support groups and/or educational in-services.
- Maintains open communications and reports regularly to the Volunteer Coordinator.

Qualifications
Education
- No specific requirement
Experience
- Previous volunteer experience may be helpful.
Other Requirements
- Mature individual supportive of the Hospice concept, comfortable with his/her own spirituality and willing to serve others in a volunteer capacity.
- Successful completion of the hospice’s volunteer training and orientation program.
- Previous volunteer experience may be helpful.
- Ability to work within a interdisciplinary group.

Description
VANTAGE Aging promotes positive aging through a variety of programs and services for older adults. Our nonprofit organization serves 38 counties and is headquartered in Akron, Ohio. In Summit and Medina Counties, we facilitate the Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) for those 55 and older who want to make a meaningful impact in the community. We also offer employment training, home care and home health aide assistance, nutrition and home-delivered meal services, alcohol and drug addiction counseling, and mental health and prevention services.
