Many citizens are unable to prepare themselves a basic daily diet due to age, health or ability. Maybe they live alone, maybe they have had surgery and need short term assistance, or maybe they are just unable to cook.
We deliver not only meals, but often the only smile a person sees in a given day. They look forward to a brief hello and are often waiting at their windows for our arrival.
Meals are prepared by Nutritional Services at the hospital and volunteers pick them up between 11:15 and 11:30 Monday through Friday and deliver them to homes within a five-mile radius of the hospital.
This is no doubt the easiest but most beneficial hour and a half of your time you could give. Whether you want to deliver once a week or once a month or more, we are looking to add to our current three routes to assure everyone needing meals will get them. Often our drivers will pair up with a friend to deliver together.
You will also be an advocate for Meals on Wheels and hopefully share our name, opportunity and service with others. We all know people who could use the meals and others needing a good way to give back.

Mission Statement
To provide and deliver daily meals to qualified area residents who are unable to provide themselves a basic daily diet because of age, health, or ability.
Description
Seymour Meals on Wheels was incorporated in 1974, and we currently deliver over 8,000 meals annually to local residents within a five-mile radius of Schneck Medical Center. We deliver Monday through Friday, except major holidays, and we observe the same weather policy as Seymour Community Schools. The Nutritional Services Department of the hospital prepares the meals for us, and our volunteer drivers pick them up in the hospital parking garage between 11:15 and 11:30 am each morning. Hot and cold meals are packed in coolers, which you will return to the hospital after completing deliveries. We currently have three routes, again all within a five-mile radius of the hospital, with each route consisting of not more than ten stops. There is a book for each route with directions from the hospital and any instructions you might need. Generally, a route can be completed within an hour and a half, including returning the coolers.
A very small commitment for a huge positive difference for those unable to provide for themselves.
