This volunteer initiative is an opportunity for participants to assist in maintaining the psychological health of the elderly in our community. As people age, they lose friends, they travel less, and they lose face time with their families. In order to keep these people from becoming more isolated, we recruit volunteers that are willing to call these people on a regular basis. Through these check-ins, we hope to spark new relationships that will sustain an aging population that is often desperate for companionship. In doing so, we hope to enrich the lives of these people, while warding off depression. Moreover, we hope that these relationships are mutually beneficial for the volunteers we bring on!

HealthVisions of East St. Louis (HVESL) is a faith-based ministry of HealthVisions Medwest, which is sponsored by the Poor Handmaids of Jesus Christ. HVESL initiates, coordinates, and implements community based health improvement activities through partnerships.
