Our dedicated volunteers offer valuable support to patients and families facing terminal illnesses.

Whatever your passion or interest, there is a meaningful role for you as a volunteer with Amedisys Hospice throughout Sumter and Lake counties:

  • In-Person visits for companionship or respite
  • Virtual Tuck-in calls - call once a week to check on needs for the weekend
  • PenPal volunteers - write personalized notes to patients
  • Veteran volunteers for pinning ceremonies or in-person visits
  • Massage therapists, Reiki practitioners, Pet Therapists, Music Therapists
  • Crafters - sew, crochet, or quit handicrafts (lap quits, catheter covers, bibs, etc)

Volunteers set their own hours typically volunteering 2 hours a week. Comprehensive training is provided.

Our volunteer can make a difference in many ways to improve the life of patients who are facing a life-limiting illness. From direct contact with patients to providing clerical support, the volunteer is an important part of our hospice care team. At Amedisys, we offer comprehensive training and creative ideas. people helping people. that is what giving to hospice care is all about. As a Hospice volunteer and as an important part of our Hospice Care Team, you can help improve the quality of life of our Patients, as well as their family and caregivers.
