Opportunities available:

Mondays 11:00-2:00pm

Wednesdays 8:30-11am

Fridays 8:30-11am

Volunteers in this position help staff by helping to create a warmer and more welcoming atmosphere in the Senior Center lounge while providing essential support, including but not limited to:

  • Answering and directing phone calls
  • Registering members for programs
  • Working with a PC and the MySeniorCenter database
  • Light cleaning of the Senior Center Lounge
  • Assisting staff with special projects

3 Shifts

  • afternoon / 08:30 AM to 11:00 AM EST
    Every Wednesday
  • afternoon / 08:30 AM to 11:00 AM EST
    Every Friday
  • 11:00 AM to 02:00 PM EST

Mission Statement

The Amherst Senior Center and Council on Aging serves and supports older adults from all walks of life. We seek to assist older adults in remaining as independent as possible, while maintaining total wellbeing and dignity.

Description

We advocate and offer programs and services to assist with all aspects of life: community building, mental wellness, health, cultural inclusion, volunteer outreach, accessibility, and cost-of-living. We explore new ways to create or adapt programming to meet the needs of seniors of all ages. We also endeavor to advocate, educate, collaborate, and build coalitions within the larger community on behalf of older adults.
