Save to Favorites

ORGANIZATION: Community Education Partnerships

This is an in-person volunteer opportunity with students in the greater Hayward/Union City area.

Community Education Partnerships (CEP) provides individualized tutoring and mentoring services to pre-K through 12th grade students experiencing housing insecurity and once stably housed. CEP Tutors are a consistent and caring presence in the life of our students, fostering a deep love of learning and ensuring they are set up for academic success.

We are seeking volunteers to join our team of in-person tutors for one-on-one tutoring. Social distancing, masks, and enhanced hygiene measures are required. All volunteers must be fully vaccinated and have completed a 2 hour Mandated Reporter Training. Students’ families are also required to be fully vaccinated in order to be eligible for in-person tutoring. Training, tools, and virtual options are provided.

As a volunteer tutor with CEP you will:

  • Work 1-on-1 with a student for at least one hour a week
  • Provide homework support and academic tutoring
  • Help our students develop their literacy skills
  • Have fun!

No teaching experience required and anyone over the age of 18 can volunteer (16+ with parent/guardian support). Session times are flexible and all of the necessary training is provided. Students range from pre-K through high school and are matched with tutors based on age and grade preferences.

Those who speak Spanish are encouraged to apply!
