Do you have a passion for serving an incredible cause impacting the lives of children in foster care while coordinating a major fundraising event? We welcome your leadership!
This diverse role encompasses handling venue and vendor selection, auction package procurement, donor development (i.e., ticket sales and sponsorships), communications (e.g., website, newsletters, media, letter writing campaigns), decor and design creation, program and entertainment oversight, and budgeting.
Building up a driven team of volunteers focused on serving in the following subcommittees is a special part of this event execution position: Sponsorship and Ticket Sales Committee, Auction/Raffles/Revenue Enhancers Committee, Décor and Catering Committee, Program Development & Entertainment Committee, and Communications Committee.
Other aspects of this opportunity include but are not limited to:
- Recruiting volunteers to serve on the planning team
- Creating a timeline/run of show schedule
- Executing email, mail, and/or social media campaigns to advertise the event
- Making sure each committee has their responsibilities and assignments
- Coordinating vendor set up and tear down along with contracts
- Creating backup plans for weather, health, and safety
- Oversight of ticketing, sponsorship, and auction software (i.e., OneCause and Neon)
- Development of sponsorship tiers and procuring corporate/individual donors
- Generating auction packages and advertising the fundraising opportunities
- Leveraging online forms and processes for ease of volunteer support in disparate locations
- Coordinating day of event volunteer responsibilities

INSPIRING COMMUNITIES TO BRING DIGNITY AND HOPE TO YOUTH IN FOSTER CARE. Many youth in foster care will be moved from home to home multiple times, carrying their life’s treasures in a trash bag. At Comfort Cases, we believe that every child deserves to feel a sense of dignity. Every child deserves to pack their belongings in a special bag that they can call their own. It is our mission as a charity to provide a proper bag, filled with comfort and essential items, to these brave youth in foster care on their journey to find their forever home. To date we have distributed over 40,000 Comfort Cases in 39 states, Puerto Rico and Washington, DC.
Description
In 2013 Comfort Cases was founded by Rob and Reece Scheer. Rob, a former child of the foster care system, and Reece adopted four children, all who came to them with what little belongings they had in black trash bags. Rob remembered his trash bag, and the sight of their children carrying trash bags was heartbreaking. They couldn't believe that after all these years, our most vulnerable children are still being treated like they are worthless.
When their children got older, as a family they talked about how they could help other kids in the foster care system, and the Comfort Case was born.
Our goal is simple - eliminate the need for children in foster care to hold their belongings in a trash bag.
To date, we have distributed over 40,000 Comfort Cases in 39 states, Puerto Rico and Washington, DC.
