AccentCare Hospice and Palliative Care of Maryland will be hosting Camp Kangaroo, a special bereavement camp for children ages 5 - 17 years old who have experienced the death of a loved one. The camp will be held at Jemicy School, Upper School Campus, in Owings Mills, Maryland, Aug 2 - 4, from 9am - 4:00 pm each day.

We need volunteers to support the AccentCare professional team by assisting with setting up, arts and crafts, helping with meals and snacks, assisting campers, etc.

Camp Kangaroo is a day camp that provides a supportive atmosphere for children who have experienced the death of a parent, sibling, grandparent, other family member, or significant friend. The primary goal during the camp will be to provide children with the opportunity to meet other children who have lost a loved one and to share and normalize the feelings surrounding their experiences. Activities throughout the 3 days will focus on memorializing their loved one, self-care techniques, building relationships and having FUN!

Camp Kangaroo is a FREE camp made possible by the Seasons Hospice Foundation.

All volunteers must be at least 18-years-old. Volunteers are required to successfully complete screenings and comprehensive training at no cost.

Deadline to apply is no later than 6/15/2024, but the earlier the better.
