ORGANIZATION: HABITAT FOR HUMANITY INTERNATIONAL INC

Our ReSale store collects donations from our community of furniture and other household goods, to sell in our store. These sales directly fund our local affordable housing projects.

Twice per week, on Wednesday and Fridays, we drive a box truck around the county to collect the donations.

Generally speaking, we have one driver, and two additional people ride in the truck. Occasionally, someone will have to drive their own car behind the truck.

This is the only volunteer opportunity in our organization that requires any kind of physical fitness, as the lifting of furniture is a requirement.

This opportunity is every week, twice per week, though you do not need to commit to every shift.

About HABITAT FOR HUMANITY INTERNATIONAL INC

Location:

PO BOX 1159, MANCHESTER, VT 05254, US

Mission Statement

We build trength, stability, and self-reliance through shelter.

Description

We build houses in Bennington County for eligible individuals and families. We are currently building our 33rd and 34th homes in the area. Our homes are purchased, not given away, but at a fair and affordable price, with little to no interest rates. Our Homeowners are also required to put in 200 hours of sweat equity per adult in the household to help build their house. Our most recent homeowner put in over 330 hours herself.
The homes we build are simple, yet elegant, and highly energy efficient to help keep the bills low.
We also do home repairs and build ramps for people to be able to safely remain in their homes, or in some cases to finally come home from a long term care facility.
