Non-Medical Hospice Volunteers Needed - Make a Difference!

Compassionate Care Hospice volunteers offer valuable support to patients and families facing terminal illnesses in Sumter and Lake Counties. Volunteers do not require any medical background and do not engage in medical or personal hygiene tasks.

Whatever your passion or interest, there is a meaningful role for you as a volunteer with Compassionate Care Hospice. Volunteers make their own schedules! Our volunteers create their own schedule and typically commit 2-4 hours a week.

We are currently looking for volunteers for:

  • Offering weekly companionship visits
  • Providing respite for caregivers as needed
  • Making weekly tuck-in calls
  • Veteran to Veteran visits and pinning ceremonies
  • Making handicraft items for patients

Professional Volunteers:

  • Massage/Reiki and other alternative therapies
  • Music therapy
  • Hairdresser/barber

We provide comprehensive training to ensure you feel confident and at ease when volunteering with our hospice patients.

Our volunteer can make a difference in many ways to improve the life of patients who are facing a life-limiting illness. From direct contact with patients to providing clerical support, the volunteer is an important part of our hospice care team. At Amedisys, we offer comprehensive training and creative ideas. people helping people. that is what giving to hospice care is all about. As a Hospice volunteer and as an important part of our Hospice Care Team, you can help improve the quality of life of our Patients, as well as their family and caregivers.
