Youth in the foster care system, many times, do not have a trusting adult, that is not part of "The System" to support them. Foster parents, social workers, counselors, & therapists are in and out of their lives.

Would you be that Champion and mentor an Alameda County Foster Youth? The rewards for them are outstanding. They learn to trust, do better in school and become better equipped to deal with what life has thrown at them. All because ONE PERSON steps up and cares. It can change a life.

The rewards for you = A long lasting relationship with a youth that you poured into.

YOU MUST LIVE IN ALAMEDA COUNTY

Description

The Be A Mentor Program pairs caring adult volunteers from the community with youth in one-to-one relationships. Mentors give of their time to be a friend, answering questions, and providing guidance. Mentors come from a variety of backgrounds and occupations and volunteer their personal time to be a caring friend to a youth. They serve as a role model, advocate, and resource. The purpose of the mentoring relationship is to help youth develop their full potential, both in and outside of the classroom.
