Spread Love and Serve Lunch at LGBTQ Senior Center in Jackson Heights

Save to Favorites

ORGANIZATION: Queens Community House

  • 21 people are interested

The Queens Center for Gay Seniors in Jackson Heights serves the LGBTQ+ community and their allies through meaningful programming, healthy meals and a space for companionship. We have a weekday lunch that starts at 1pm, so need a volunteer who can arrive at about 12:30pm to help with lunch service. You will assist one staff person by greeting arrivals, scanning participants' DFTA cards when they arrive, making sure they sign in, collecting their suggested contribution, and serving them their meal. There are about 50 lunch attendees per day.

The right volunteer will be a people-pleaser, someone who can get along with a diverse group of attendees. Greet people with a smile and listen to their needs.

You pick the day: Monday, Tuesday or Friday, first come, first served.

Email Bert at bsreyes@qchnyc.org for more details or to find out next steps.

Mission Statement

Queens Community House provides individuals and families with the tools to enrich their lives and build healthy, inclusive communities.

Description

Queens Community House (QCH) is a multi-site, multi-service settlement house that serves the diverse neighborhoods of Queens. We serve residents of all ages, races, faiths, and ethnicities while supporting the viability of the borough as a whole.

QCH was formed in 1975 (as Forest Hills Community House) to help heal the wounds of a neighborhood conflict.
