This position joins the Oregon Health Authority’s statewide AmeriCorps VISTA team. In addition to activities at your individual site, each member receives additional orientation, training throughout the year, team retreats and meetings, and the support of the team leaders and project director based at the state public health agency. Lincoln County Public Health is a part of the Health and Human Services department in Lincoln County, Oregon. We serve the community through disease prevention and health promotion, environmental health, and maternal child family health services and programs. These sections are supported by the public health modernization and advancement team that is a repository of public health capabilities and competencies such as assessment and epidemiology, equity, community partnerships, communications, emergency preparedness, leadership and performance management. We are a team of about 40 people who strive daily to provide the best of services to our community. We have learned and grown a lot through the COVID-19 pandemic, and we are working to sustain some of the practices and learnings that happened since 2020. The OHA AmeriCorps VISTA Partnership Project is committed to building a diverse workforce to strengthen our work in Oregon communities. Member Duties: The Member will develop and conduct a community needs assessment on access to healthcare in Lincoln County. The assessment will include data collection through the development and administration of surveys, key informant interviews, and focus groups. The member will compile and analyze the data and present a report with recommendations on how to address needs and gaps identified. The findings will be presented to department leadership, the public health advisory committee and more. The member will develop and prioritize strategies for a multiyear breastfeeding promotion campaign through the implementation of a health promotion framework. The position includes thorough planning, situational assessment, as well as identification of goals, objectives, and strategies based on the findings of the assessment. The Member will also support reaccreditation application submission through developing documentation for specific measures as well as reviewing existing documentation.
