We are seeking a savvy social media expert or two to curate engaging content for our Instagram and other social media! We want to grow our social media following, create more engagement, and bring in new supporters. If you have skills not just in editing photos, creating graphics, and posting, but also knowledge of social media best practices and marketing, we would love to connect. We want to grow awareness of the plight of the Batwa tribe and our work, while creating passionate supporters and dedicated donors.

Redemption Song Foundation (RSF) is a non-profit organization devoted to advocating for social justice and working with the Batwa tribe in Uganda, one of the most marginalized tribes in the world. They face a struggle for survival daily due to forced eviction from their ancestral homeland (which was turned into a park to save mountain gorillas, while this minority indigenous tribe of hunter-gatherers got evicted and received no compensation from 1991 to now).

We are working hand-in-hand with the Batwa to create sustainable and self-sufficient community, including education, community development, and livelihood projects to lift them out of poverty with a hand up. These range from providing the best education for the children to creating a "Food Forest" including organic agriculture, animal husbandry, and reforestation of native trees to combat climate change and restore their natural forest, and an Artisan Coop that supports women and families.

About Redemption Song Foundation

Location:

Mission Statement

Spreading hope by growing healthy communities and sustainable ecosystems in Africa

Description

Working near Bwindi Impenetrable Park in southwestern Uganda, RSF is a newly formed organization whose work unites poverty alleviation and the protection of the forests on which both local people and wildlife depend.

Based on the work of Nobel-Prize-winning economist Elinor Ostrom, RSF's activiites focus on grassroots community development based on trust and cooperation. We have projects to holistically support the Batwa ("Twa") pygmy families in SW Uganda, including health, hygiene & family planning education, an Educational Soup Kitchen for the kids, and artisan co-ops to generate personal income and RSF-funds for projects. We also support a local school (Rugando Parents Primary School) through facilitating a cultural exchange with schools in the US, providing reusable menstrual pads to keep girls in school, and we helped build their 5th grade classroom. Other projects are underway!
