Are you looking for a way to share your arts & craft skills with someone and bring joy in the process? Unity Hospice is looking for Crafty Card-making volunteers to make cards for patients in hospice care. This role is good for those skilled at painting, drawing, watercolor, collage, scrapbooking, or card-making. Our ideal volunteers will be adults who have artistic talent and would like a judgment-free outlet to share that skill with those who need cheering!
Patients on hospice are often homebound, and appreciate a pretty, handmade and handwritten card to brighten their day! At Unity we try and add those extra touches to show our patients that they are never alone, and that many people in the community love and care about them.
Card making volunteers can create seasonal cards, birthday cards, or just "thinking of you" - general all purpose cards. Cards would only have art/messaging on the front - our office volunteers would do the writing of messages inside and mail the cards to patients. We ask volunteers to include envelopes with their cards when possible, although we can discuss this if it's not possible.
Cards could be dropped off at our Chicago office in Chinatown, our Skokie office near Main & Crawford, or be mailed to the Volunteer Coordinator when created.
Volunteers need only complete an application to become part of the team. Please contact us today if this opportunity seems right for you!
(At this time we cannot accommodate groups or students under 18)
