As a ST Group Co-Leader , you will help organize, lead and attend activities for a group of 10-12 Durham, NC-based girls representing various schools, backgrounds, cultures, and socioeconomics. All group leaders must complete a background check, participate in the Stewards of Light online training, provide proof of driver's license and auto insurance (in the event a child is in a situation requiring transport) and review and sign a Child Safety Policy form. Position is available as current leaders rotate off and as new groups join our program. We anticipate the need for 2-4 group leaders beginning in the Fall of 2025. Time commitment: Every 4-6 weeks on weekends.
Activities can range from service learning to going to get ice-cream. You and your group work together to choose an activity! (Visit @stronghertogether to get a feel for typical activities.) Group leaders will also:
- Communicate with families via group texts / emails
- Give direction to high school youth representatives, who serve as assistants
- Occasionally assist with bigger program activities
Group leaders are role models and friends to the girls in StrongHER TogetHER. You will make a difference in their lives! Thank you for taking a moment to know more about this opportunity!

Mission Statement
StrongHER TogetHER helps girls rise above stereotypes that alienate them from one another and instead grow up to be women who understand the power of their collective strength in the fight for equity.
Description
StrongHER TogetHER (ST) works to shift mindsets, elevate outcomes and advance social and individual awareness. Because we believe reliable and long-standing impact is achieved organically, capitalizing on time is a core strategy for our program. Girls are nominated to join ST as rising fifth graders and participate in ST programming for eight years, through high school graduation. This length of time allows the girls to fully embrace the notion of collective power, having experienced any number of consistent growth opportunities with the same group of girls. ST is also strategic and intentional in assembling these groups, all of which are comprised of students from various schools, backgrounds, cultures and socioeconomics. These differences, paired with the consistency and duration of our programming, encourages the girls to learn about one another and over time, recognize they are more similar than different and further, their differences are cause for celebration.
