How to help:
Do you want to help our park, and our planet, but not sure where to start? Are you interested in an easy, de-stressing volunteer opportunity? Are you curious about our park’s coastal sage habitat? Help with habitat restoration!
Weed Warriors are dedicated volunteers who remove invasive plants that threaten Cabrillo National Monument's native plants. On Thursdays, members of the public are invited to join our open, drop-in volunteer sessions.
No special skills or knowledge needed! We will show you what to do.
Due to the work’s requirements, volunteers under the age of 12 are not permitted. Minors under the age of 18 are required to be accompanied by a parent or adult guardian to volunteer.
Where:
Upper Monument, Bayside Trail, Coastal Trail. Please check in at the Visitor Center’s Front Desk for the specific meeting location each Thursday.
What to wear:
Long-sleeved shirts, long pants, and closed-toe shoes (preferably of smooth, non-cloth material so invasive seed and plants will not stick). Conditions can get chilly, so please bring extra layers.
What to bring:
Please bring plenty of water in a reusable water bottle--we have a refilling station by our Visitor Center. Sunscreen and a wide-brimmed hat are strongly recommended. Tools, gloves, and PPE will be provided.
