StreamTeam is Clark Public Utilities volunteer-driven stream restoration program. Since 1997, AmeriCorps volunteers have played a vital role in the success of our StreamTeam watershed enhancement and outreach activities.
We have four AmeriCorps positions available for the 2023-24 term: Nursery Specialist, Invasive Species Technician, Education & Outreach Specialist and Restoration Specialist. Each member serves 10.5 months through the Washington Service Corps, building community awareness around habitat restoration and rehabilitating local watersheds.
Do you like to "Get Things Done" and want to get your hands dirty with environmental work that will leave a lasting positive impact on our world?
· Build your skills with native and invasive plant identification, hauling trailers, CPR & first aid, using GPS devices, working with arcGIS, and using maintenance equipment
· Gain valuable experience with habitat restoration work to prepare yourself for careers in the natural resources field, landscape architecture or forestry
Do you like wild places? What if your job was focused on creating healthy habitat? As the AmeriCorps Restoration Specialist this is your goal. In this position you will be involved in every step of the process for helping transform degraded natural areas into flourishing habitat for salmon and pollinators. That could look like potting native trees in our nursery, it could be choosing the right plant for the right place or it could mean leading your team out to completed project sites to monitor the survival rate of our plants. There’s so much that goes into turning struggling ecosystems into one thriving natural spaces. As the Restoration Specialist you’ll learn the ins and outs of what really goes into planning for these projects. If you’re eager to gain real world experience in the natural resources field, and have a passion for protecting our natural world we’d love to hear from you.
AmeriCorps is a national service program. Members are placed with local agencies to make the community and environment healthier and safer while increasing their knowledge and skills. AmeriCorps member receive extensive training and support for their individual positions. Benefits include professional development opportunities, a monthly stipend ($2,800), health insurance, loan forbearance and an educational scholarship with the successful completion of service.
