Position Summary
Many students in Minnesota need extra help developing strong foundational language skills and you can make all the difference. Take action as a tutor and join a team dedicated to helping all students succeed.
As an English Language Tutor, you’ll be placed at a local school where you’ll help students in middle school to improve their academic English language skills and gain confidence. Every day, you’ll meet with students one-on-one or in small groups to provide extra practice and build skills.
With great training and on-site coaching, we’ll prepare you to help students succeed. Students make the most progress when you are there, so our tutors serve during school hours and in the after-school program. Tutors are needed for the entire school year. We are currently recruiting tutors for the 2023-24 school year, with opportunities beginning in July.
This is an AmeriCorps member position with Language Corps. You will join an amazing group of members, determined to help students succeed.
What to Expect- Use proven strategies to help Long-Term English Learner students build their skills and confidence.
- Collaborate with coaches and teachers to monitor student progress and see what’s working.

- Commit to continuous improvement through coaching, training and professional development.
- Lead after school enrichment classes focused on hands-on learning and social emotional development.
- Support families with engaging in their student’s learning at school.
- Represent Language Corps at school-sponsored activities and share your experience with the wider community to help build awareness.
