ORGANIZATION: The Volunteer Center of Reno County

Substitute van driver volunteers are needed to operate a vehicle designed to transport grocery items within Reno County as needed. Provides some physical labor by assisting with carrying groceries to and from van. Must obey traffic laws, drive vehicle defensively, consistently maintains assigned time schedule. Will receive delivery assignments from The Volunteer Center and collect payment at time of deliveries.

Qualifications:
Valid KS Driver's License
Ability to work with the general public in a friendly professional manner, positive and effect with people
Cell phone for communication with the Dept. of Aging and Volunteer Center
High School GED or Diploma
Good driving record per a KS Motor Vehicle Records Report
Posses working knowledge of Reno County
Alert, self-reliant, demonstrates good judgement
Ability to apply safe driving techniques in all weather conditions
Ability to listen and effectively communicate with clients, and Dept. of Aging/Volunteer Center staff
Must be able to meet the physical requirements associated with the essential functions of this position. Physical requirements include but are not limited to climbing, bending, stooping, kneeling, reaching, and handling, as well as the ability to push, pull, lift, carry and otherwise move objects relative to this position.
Clean Background Check

Working Conditions:
Majority of work is performed inside a Reno County vehicle. May be exposed to hot, cold, wet, humid, or windy conditions caused by weather. Due to the proximity to the general public, work may include exposure to diseases and/or illnesses.

Dates/Times Needed:
Once a week on designated delivery day (twice a month)

Our goal is to be the first place people think of when they want to be of service and the first place non-profit and governmental groups think of when they need dependable volunteer help. As a result we extend the human capacity of area non-profit and governmental agencies by recruiting volunteers to fill a wide variety of volunteer positions in the community.

Description

The Volunteer Center recruits, refers and supports volunteers for the betterment of the community. The Center is home of the Retired & Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP), the Volunteer Action Corps (VAC), Friends in Action and the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program in Reno County, Kansas.
