The Powell Street Festival is an annual celebration of Japanese Canadian art and culture that includes musical performances, traditional dance, an amateur sumo wrestling competition, martial arts demonstrations, bonsai and ikebana exhibits, lots of Japanese food, and more.

We rely on hundreds of volunteers to make this festival the wonderful event that it is! We're looking to fill a wide variety of positions, including volunteer booth registration, set-up and take-down, Master of Ceremonies (MC), children’s tent volunteer, photography and videography, and more. Volunteering at the PSF is a fantastic opportunity to learn, meet new people, and foster diversity in Vancouver's arts and culture community- and it also comes with some additional perks, including a free volunteer appreciation party with entertainment and door prizes!

The 48th Annual Powell Street Festival will take place Saturday, August 3 and Sunday, August 4, 2023. Volunteer opportunities span Thursday, August 1 - Monday, August 5.
