Pacific Northwest Ballet offers students in Seattle Public School partner schools the opportunity to study classical ballet free of charge, dependent only on the students’ potential and interest in the program.
PNB’s DanceChance program works with partner schools to identify students with talent for classical ballet. Through DanceChance, PNB seeks to build a School and Company that reflects the diversity of our community by providing access and opportunity to talented students.
Students are provided with classical training twice a week with dance attire, transportation and complimentary tickets to company performances provided. The DanceChance screening team will audition 1300 third grade students from 22 Seattle public schools to participate in a nine week Introductory Session. During this Introductory Session, the student's progress will be carefully observed. Continued acceptance for the Spring semester is based on attendance, attitude, conduct and physical ability. Volunteers receive ONE free class for PNB's Open Dance program or Pilates Mat classes for each day of volunteering. Volunteers needed 10:15 a.m.-12:15 p.m. on Tuesdays and/or Thursdays.
