Pacific Northwest Ballet offers students in Seattle Public School partner schools the opportunity to study classical ballet free of charge, dependent only upon the students’ potential and interest in the program.

PNB’s DanceChance program works with partner schools to identify students with aptitude for classical ballet. Through DanceChance, PNB seeks to build a School and Company that reflects the diversity of our community by providing access and opportunity to students who demonstrate the potential to develop through classical ballet training.

Students are provided with classical ballet training twice a week and are given broad dance education opportunities. Dance attire, transportation and complimentary tickets to company performances and other events are provided. The DanceChance screening team auditions, on average, 1200 third grade students from 20 Seattle public schools to potentially participate in a nine-week Introductory Session. During this Introductory Session, the students' progress is carefully observed. Continued acceptance for the Spring semester is based on attendance, attitude, conduct and ability. Volunteers receive ONE free class for PNB's Open Dance program or Pilates Mat classes for each day of volunteering. Volunteers needed 10:00 a.m.-12:30 p.m. on Tuesdays and/or Thursdays.
