Job Overview:
HHP is looking for a volunteer with high-level experience as a DevOps Engineer to join a mission driven non-profit organization. You will become an integral part of the team, making every problem of the infrastructure a problem of your own, and solving them accordingly.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for design, implementation, and monitoring of our infrastructure
- Collaborate with other team members to develop automation strategies and deployment processes
- Help tune performance and ensure high availability (HA) of infrastructure
- Design and develop infrastructure monitoring and reporting tools
- Develop and maintain configuration management solutions
- Develop test automation frameworks in collaboration with rest of the team
- Create tools to help teams make the most out of the available infrastructure
- Work on assigned tasks in Trello
- Work in a multidisciplinary team with other professionals
- Maintain the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of the company infrastructure
- Respond to incident responses as needed
- Attend company meetings and lead as needed (weekly or otherwise)
Requirements:
- One year of proven experience as a DevOps Engineer is preferred
- Prior experience with public cloud hosting, such as AWS, Azure, and/or GCP
- Prior work experience in healthcare & life sciences sector is a plus
- Sense of ownership and pride in your performance
- Critical thinker and problem-solver
- Team player
- Good time-management skills
- Great interpersonal and communication skills (good English speaker and writer)
- Fast and reliable internet connection
Skills:
- Experience with Linux servers in virtualized environments
- Familiarity with the fundamentals of Linux scripting languages
- Strong grasp of configuration management tools, such as Chef, Ansible, Salt Stack, and Terraform
- Familiarity with load balancing, firewalls, LAMP/LEMP servers
- Proficient with network tools such as iptables, HAProxy, DNS
- Ability to build and monitor services on production servers
- Knowledge of servers and switches
- Strong experience implementing CI/CD pipelines (GitHub preferred)
- Security oriented
