The Carmichael Food Closet has been providing food to the community for more than 50 years. We're located behind the Carmichael Presbyterian Church at 5645 Marconi Ave, Carmichael, CA 95608 - in a separate building, in the rear parking lot. We serve 30+ households each afternoon shift, and 50+ households on Thursday evenings.
Here are the three primary volunteer opportunities we offer:
- Morning Warehouse Shift (8:30-10:30 am) - stocking and prepping food bags; no client contact; team of 3-4 volunteers with direction from leadership
- Afternoon Distribution Shift (12:15-2:30 pm) - light packing and food distribution to drive-up and walk-up clients; team of 4 volunteers with direction from leadership. Volunteers must be prepared to work outside and have client contact.
- Thursday Evening Distribution Shift (5:15-7:15 pm) - light packing and food distribution to drive-up and walk-up clients; team of 6-10 volunteers with direction from leadership. Volunteers must be prepared to work outside and have client contact.
We use the SignUp site (an online volunteer scheduling platform) to manage our volunteer calendar and send out shift reminders. Please review available shifts and sign up on https://signup.com/go/aZUPgfc.

The mission of the Carmichael Food Closet is to help any family or individual in our community struggling with food insecurity to gain consistent access to nutritious food through friendly and individualized food distribution and support services.
Description
The Food Closet began 50+ years ago by church volunteers and remains a volunteer driven organization. Hundreds of volunteers from across the community and faith groups help with food distribution 4 times per week.
