SAIL needs support with our website, specifically, we are looking for someone to

  • Help support in keeping the website with new formatting and content, and
  • Support SAIL as we add an educational subscription to the website.
You will work with other volunteers on the website and with the volunteers who are creating the educational content for the website, which will included online trainings and documents. There could be some coding work, in addition to using the platform SquareSpace.

SAIL is a fairly new Nonprofit and run by all volunteers. We have volunteers and youth around the US and the UK, as SAIL is mostly a virtual organization.

SAIL requires a Background check for volunteers over 18 years of age, as we work with youth and they are involved in all aspects of the organization.

Mission Statement

The mission of the organization is to use the foundation of AMPLIFY, youth led groups, which focus on mentoring across different ages, in supporting the acquisition of advocacy and leadership skills. AMPLIFY will be the base of ALL advocacy and educational work of the organization, which is designed to create inclusive communities through awareness and understanding, with a specific focus on gender and sexually marginalized individuals and communities. The emphasis on developing leadership and advocacy skills is what separates AMPLIFY from other youth groups. AMPLIFY groups are the foundation of ALL advocacy and educational work of SAIL and are open to all LGBTQIA+ and allied youth ages 11-22. AMPLIFY are youth led groups, which use mentoring across different ages to empower youth in the acquisition and implementation of advocacy and leadership skills through the youth’s own projects.

Description

AMPLIFY groups are the foundation of ALL advocacy and educational work of SAIL and are open to all LGBTQIA+ and allied youth ages 11-22. AMPLIFY are youth led groups, which use mentoring across different ages to empower youth in the acquisition and implementation of advocacy and leadership skills through the youth’s own projects.

Youth have done conference presentations and panels at the local, national and international level, about Mental Health and the LGBTQIA+ Risk Factors, Relationships and Consent, LGBTQIA+ Basics, and Self-Advocacy for Trans youth in Schools. In addition, youth have collaborated with and been presenters for SAIL paid trainings on LGBTQIA+ Basic, and Implicit Social Biases.

Recently, SAIL, in partnership with Side by Side, created the GSA Collective which is designed by and forLBGTQ+ youth and allies , to come together for networking, to share experiences, and learn from others! Meetings cover topics designed to support GSAs’ in growing and thriving, provide connections between GSAs, and a social space for all. Guest GSAs host and speakers are encouraged and welcome!
