For more than 30 years, Northstar Tutoring ( www.northstartutoring.org) has provided free one-on-one tutoring and mentoring services for low-income Pre-K -12th grade students in the Washington, D.C. area. Partnering with local schools, community centers and the DC Public Library System, we strive to provide the academic support and personal attention that our students need to thrive academically and emotionally.
To help students catch up on core subjects over the summer, Northstar is partnering with The Latin American Youth Center to provide tutoring/educational games to their summer camp attendees. Volunteers will help students brush up on their math and reading skills while also engaging in fun activities like arts and crafts and board games. We will be working with students on Mondays and Wednesdays from 9:30-11:30 am. Please note that volunteers are welcome to sign up for part of the time and do not have to do both days! Volunteers are also able to request a specific age range to work with (students will be in grades K-7th).
To sign up or for more information, please contact Jennifer Townsend at JTownsend@northstartutoring.org. Thank you for supporting DC students this summer!
