Adult Grief Group Volunteers

ORGANIZATION: Idealist.org

Recruiting Organization: Uplift Center for Grieving Children

Seasoned adults (preferably with a professional background in counseling, though not required) are needed to help lead peer support groups for Caregivers of grieving children. Adult peer support groups provide support for adult grief as well as psycho-education and support for parenting a grieving child.

Similar to the Children’s Grief Support Groups, Caregiver Groups may be facilitated by a combination of Uplift clinician, trained volunteer, and/or social work/counseling intern. These groups meet for an hour each week for five weeks each cycle. The time commitment is two to two-and-a-half hours a week when groups are running, and we ask you to commit to a year of groups. There are currently five cycles of groups that run from September through June, with 1-2 week breaks in between. Groups are in-person or virtual.

Join us for an informational session for Prospective Volunteers interested in learning how volunteers make a difference in the lives of caregivers supporting a grieving child. Free via Zoom on Monday, July 17, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. for 20 minutes (+ Q&A). Join us virtually (bring your lunch).
