HICAP is seeking volunteer Medicare counselors throughout our nine-county service area to provide one-on-one counseling, either online, over the phone, or in person when our sites are available, to Medicare beneficiaries who are elderly or persons with disabilities, as well as their family members and caregivers, and anyone with questions about Medicare. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SoH7ewkx-cw

Mission Statement

HICAP (Health Insurance Counseling & Advocacy Program) of Northern California is a nonprofit organization providing free, unbiased and confidential Medicare counseling and advocacy services in El Dorado, Nevada, Placer, Sacramento, San Joaquin, Sierra, Sutter, Yolo and Yuba counties.

Description

Our trained volunteer counselors can answer your questions and help you understand your Medicare rights and benefits, including how to appeal denials of coverage; Medicare supplemental insurance (Medigap policies); Medicare Advantage plans; employee and retiree coverage; and long-term care insurance, legal help and representation at Medicare appeals or administrative hearings and community education.

HICAP is managed by Legal Services of Northern California and our counselors are registered by the California Department of Aging. HICAP is not affiliated with any insurance company, nor does the program sell, promote or solicit any type of insurance.
