Do you have a passion for reading? Do you enjoy helping others? Are you looking for a way to make a difference in your community? Then join the Moreno Valley Public Library as a summer volunteer and earn a work-development scholarship of at least 100 dollars. The Moreno Valley Public Library is looking for individuals ages 14 and up, who are available to volunteer during our Lunch at the Library that runs from June 20 to July 31. As a Lunch at the Library volunteer you’ll have the opportunity to interact with the public while assisting library staff with a variety of projects, programs, and other tasks throughout the library. Examples of Duties Provide excellent customer service. Develop demonstrations, nutritional lessons, and host other healthy food programs for children. Maintain dining areas, monitor crowds, and keep track of participants. Provides information to patrons regarding location of library materials, programs, and other special events. Assist patrons with locating materials, using computers,&/or explaining procedures (checking out, logging onto the internet, making copies, etc.). Adhere to Moreno Valley Public Library policies and procedures. Maintain the confidentiality of library information. Maintain contact with Library Staff regarding needs, concerns, questions, etc. Minimum Qualifications Complete the City of Moreno Valley Volunteer Application Packet Physical Requirements Must be able to move from place to place within the building; lift, push/pull, hold/carry items weighing up to 25 pounds, and occasionally up to 35 pounds of library materials including files, books, stacks of paper, and other materials. Ability to sit for long periods of time and to maintain focus on projects such as computer screens or detailed paperwork.
