Share your love and passion for art, architecture, history, and Frank Lloyd Wright with audiences that come from around the globe!

Volunteer interpreters enhance the guest experience of Wright’s original sites by providing factual information and background about the site in a poised, comfortable and engaging manner.

Lead tours at one of our four locations:

  • Frank Lloyd Wright’s Home & Studio - 951 Chicago Ave, Oak Park, IL
  • Unity Temple - 875 Lake St, Oak Park, IL
  • Frederick C. Robie House - 5757 S Woodlawn Ave, Chicago, IL
  • The Rookery - 209 S LaSalle St, Suite 118, Chicago, IL

The training process to become an active interpreter at a Frank Lloyd Wright Trust site requires a minimum of 4 weeks, and depending on the candidate’s prior experience, may extend to 8 weeks of self-study, observation, and practice tours. While having experience with leading tours or having a background in architecture/art/history is a plus, this is not a requirement. We train people with no experience giving tours and no background knowledge of Wright or architecture to be just as prepared as lifelong Wright-fanatics and seasoned tour guides.

Enrichment lectures, programs and events are scheduled from time to time by the Trust and offered to volunteers free of charge. Volunteers who complete 48 hours of service each year receive a complimentary Trust membership.

You will receive a link to access PowerPoint presentations, a resource fact sheet, and a required reading list.
