The fabulous new Ed Rice Community Center in Frayser wants to host an English class for non-native speakers and in order to get started, they need a volunteer to lead the charge. Will it be you??? Class will meet on Monday and Wednesday evenings from 6:00-7:30PM with a group of no more than 15 people. Training and a curriculum will be provided before starting. Sessions will run for 10 weeks with a 2-3 week break before beginning again. Are you excited yet??? Please reach out to Lee Chase IV at lchase@literacymidsouth.org for more details.

Somewhere between 20% to 30% of adults in the Memphis metro area are functionally illiterate. That means more than just unemployment -- their minds are unused and their dreams are unrealized.
Description
YOU can help. There is no greater gift to give than helping a person succeed. Facilitate learning in the life of an adult who struggles with reading, writing, math and English as a foreign language through Literacy Mid-South's Adult Learning Program and English For You program. Volunteers are able to serve as facilitators to groups of adults or provide individual goal-centered tutoring to an adult learner.
