ORGANIZATION: The Road Home

This opportunity invites individuals and small community groups to volunteer at the Gail Miller Resource Center, operated by The Road Home. Volunteers will help with sorting clothing donations and organizing the warehouse. Our facility can accommodate up to 5 volunteers at a time with plenty of tasks to keep everyone busy. If you have a larger group, please contact volunteer@theroadhome.org. Listed below is an overview of our program and helpful tips to prepare you for this engaging service opportunity.

Warehouse Service Guidelines

  1. Volunteers must be at least 12 years old to be in the donation center
  2. To ensure the privacy of the people we serve, photos/videos with shelter guests are not permitted at any time. Please reach out for specific photo guidelines.
  3. For safety, volunteers must wear closed toed shoes.

Cancellations: If you need to cancel your shift, please do so at least 24 hours in advance.

The Road Home is a private non-profit social service agency that assists individuals and families experiencing homelessness in Salt Lake County and along the Wasatch Front. Our mission is to help people step out of homelessness and back into our community.

Description

Originally established in 1923 to assist stranded travelers, the Road Home has grown to address a spectrum of needs that people experiencing homelessness encounter as they work to restore their lives. In addition to operating the largest shelter in Utah, the Road Home has developed a comprehensive housing program that helps people move into housing as quickly as possible.
