Mentoring Conversation

We at Central Virginia SCORE invite exceptional people to join our team of dedicated volunteers to help build the future of small business in our community. Small businesses are the backbone of neighborhoods and the economy. SCORE has been providing them with free mentoring and low cost webinars and workshops for over 50 years. The Central VA chapter needs motivated, dynamic people with business or related skills to mentor our growing numbers of clients. If you are looking to make a difference, SCORE is the right place for you.

A SCORE mentor is an adviser who uses their expertise to help entrepreneurs launch their dreams...and small business owners reach their goals. Mentors provide free business advice and guidance using the knowledge acquired from their career experiences and ongoing learning at SCORE......all delivered virtually or in person in a few hours per month on a self-managed schedule.

The ideal mentor is a good listener, curious, empathetic, flexible, and thrives on helping others succeed. Mentors often have significant experience within their field, excellent communication skills, and the ability to dedicate a few hours a month from the comfort of home or in face-to-face meetings.

Apply to be a mentor in Central Virginia if you have experience as a business owner, or in a corporate functional role or general management, or in business or commerce education, or other business related profession including but not limited to marketing, finance and accounting, information technology, etc. Or view other volunteer opportunities on our website.

SCORE is a nonprofit resource partner of the U.S. Small Business Administration that helps aspiring and existing entrepreneurs succeed. Every year, our volunteers help thousands of entrepreneurs achieve their dreams of starting small businesses and achieving new levels of success. Volunteering is a way for you to give back, network with business experts, and share your knowledge. Join SCORE today to make a meaningful difference in Charlottesville, Fredericksburg, Culpeper and the surrounding counties of Central Virginia.
