Looking for in-Person Literacy Mentors!

Our Mentor Family is the foundation of our organization. Our team works closely alongside you to ensure that we support the bright futures of our students. The Center for Success Network is looking for people who love children and have a willingness to share time and joy with our staff and students as an IN-PERSON LITERACY MENTOR in Detroit (Durfee Innovation Society, 2470 Collingwood Street, Suite 102, Detroit, MI 48206)

Requirements:

In-Person Training Session

2-hour Mentoring for Equity workshop

Minimum service of 1 hour a week, late afternoon, at our Detroit Location

Service commitment through the entire Academic School Year

A Background Check


Mentoring Experience:
We will provide resources and guides for these mentoring sessions. Sessions include icebreaker/energizer, reading time, customized literacy activities, and lots of time to grow your relationship and bond with your mentee. Our experienced staff will be on site the entire session in case you have questions or need assistance.

Mission Statement

Center for Success Network unites literacy and community to empower students in the journey of education.

Description

Over 7 years, Center for Success has expanded to include a Network which currently includes 12 locations serving nearly 385 students 4 days each week, and has established a complete summer program. A full literacy support program has been designed to ensure the educational careers of our students are impacted positively. More than 550 committed mentors are trained and engaged in weekly sessions to deliver individualized lessons to each student. Each Center engages program partners to bring additional activities and projects that ignite our students to succeed.

  • 1 hour 1x-2x a week. Every week from 5:20-6:20pm weekly for the entire academic School Year.
  • You must love children. Your goal is to be a mentor and to offer a positive and joyful experience for your student partner. You must be consistent and commit to investing authentically in this child's life.
