High school and/or college students will help facilitate the Read Across Generations, an intergenerational summer reading program at (one of) five Montgomery County Public Libraries (MCPL) locations from July 10 to August 18, 2023. One student needed at: Aspen Hill Library, Long Branch Library, or White Oak Library. Preferably two students needed at Gaithersburg Library or Wheaton Library due to more foot traffic at those MCPL sites. This is a 6-week commitment where students will:
- Receive training from the librarian at the MCPL site of their choice.
- Talk to parents and guardians at their assigned library to pair their child(ren) with an Interages volunteer reader.
- Record information about the child, such as their name, age, and ZIP code, on a sign-in sheet provided by Interages.
- Help students choose a book to read.
- Be supervised by the librarian at your designated MCPL site.
- Have the opportunity to familiarize themselves with their designated MCPL site.
- Receive Student Service Learning (SSL) hours, if requested.
