We are looking for volunteers for our community garden at the Irish American Heritage Center. We'll be hosting volunteer days on the first Saturday of each month this summer between 11:00am - 1:00pm. We are looking for volunteers of all experience levels, but specifically are seeking help with obtaining tools and materials, building garden beds and removing several large invasive bushes.
If you or someone you know has building experience and would assist in building garden beds or storage, please reach out! We are also open to donations and specifically are in need of soil, compost, materials for raised beds, as well as smaller garden supplies like gloves and shovels. We'd be happy to work with groups interested in service hours or educational opportunities.
All garden events are free and open to all. Harvest is shared between volunteers and all leftover produce is donated to local food pantries. Tools are provided during events, but we welcome donations, and bringing your own supplies if convenient. Snacks and refreshments are also provided.
Email Kathleen at khowlett@irishchicago.org for more information or to be added to receive updates on the garden.

Mission Statement
Irish Community Services is a not-for-profit immigration, social, and youth services provider. Our mission is to serve, empower, and connect the Irish and Irish American community of the Midwestern United States.
Description
Irish Community Services (ICS) is a 501c3 not-for-profit immigration and social services organization that provids a comprehensive array of services to the elderly, youth and a full range of immigration and naturalization services. Traditionally, ICS’ clients were Irish. As the immigration landscape in Chicago changes so does ICS’ clientele. The center believes in coalition building and is a member of the nationally renowned Illinois Coalition of Immigrant and Refugee Rights; an umbrella group representing over 100 immigrant groups in IL. ICS is also a proud member of the national Coalition of Irish Immigrant Centers, providing a voice for the Irish and Irish American community in the USA. The center welcomes diversity and does not discriminate; we open our doors to immigrants from around the world.
