HOBY WI

Wisconsin HOBY seeks enthusiastic, motivated individuals who want to make a difference in their future by influencing the lives of tomorrow's leaders.

We're looking for additional members on our fundraising and programming committees. Looking for people in or around Wisconsin that can help a virtual team plan and build for a leadership seminar held in June 2018 in Madison. The planning team works in virtual meetings and occasional optional in-person gatherings to create the program and operations/logistics support our annual leadership seminar for high school sophomores from around Wisconsin.

Our program is built around the Leadership For a Better World philosophy, helping our high school attendees learn more about Personal Leadership, Group Leadership, and Societal Leadership.

Our Operations team supports everything from food and housing, to the supplies and needs to support the program.

Our Recruitment team works with each high school contact to educate and assist in registering a student ambassador to attend the seminar. Following up with contact with the parents and students to answer any questions and ensure the registration process is complete.

Our Fundraising team works with all of the above teams to fund the seminar, on a 12k budget combined with donations of merchandise and money.

Description

The Hugh O'Brian Youth (HOBY) Leadership Seminar in Wisconsin is a 3-day seminar for high school sophomores. The seminar is held at Edgwood College in Madison, WI, June 2-4, 2017.

HOBY Leadership Seminars are designed to prepare our country's high school sophomores to become effective, ethical leaders in their home, schools, workplace and community. HOBY uses a unique methodology to develop leaders. Rather than have adults lecture while they take notes, HOBY seminars provide face-to-face interaction between the youth and distinguished leaders in business, industry, education, science, government, media, and other professions.

The Leadership Seminar Program allows high school sophomores to recognize their leadership talents and apply them in becoming effective, ethical leaders in their home, school, workplace and community. Students attend three or four day seminars and participate in hands-on leadership activities, meet leaders in their state, and explore their own personal leadership skills while learning how to make a positive impact in their community. The seminar curriculum is based on the Social Change Model of Leadership and develops leadership from three perspectives: Personal Leadership, Group Leadership, and Leadership for Society.
