The Volunteer Engagement and Motivation Sub-Team has a critical role in ensuring volunteers stay motivated and engaged in their roles within CrowdDoing. Here's a roadmap with a focus on intrinsic rewards:

  1. Understand Volunteer Motivations: Start by understanding what motivates your volunteers. This could be accomplished through surveys, one-on-one conversations, or feedback sessions. Each volunteer's Ikigai will provide significant insight into what intrinsically motivates them.

  2. Create Meaningful Roles: Ensure that every volunteer role is meaningful and aligns with the organization's mission and the individual's Ikigai. When volunteers see the value and impact of their work, it can significantly enhance intrinsic motivation.

  3. Promote Autonomy: Allow volunteers to have a degree of autonomy in their work. Autonomy fosters a sense of ownership and can be a significant intrinsic motivator.

  4. Provide Skill Development Opportunities: Learning and mastering new skills can be a powerful intrinsic motivator. Collaborate with the Learning and Development Sub-Team to provide opportunities for volunteers to continually develop and refine their skills.

  5. Foster a Sense of Belonging: Create a supportive and inclusive community where volunteers feel they belong. Regular team meetings, virtual social events, and open communication channels can contribute to this sense of community.

  6. Recognize and Appreciate: Regularly recognize and appreciate volunteers' contributions. While this recognition doesn't involve extrinsic rewards, it can be a powerful intrinsic motivator. Recognition could be as simple as a personalized thank-you note or a shout-out during a team meeting.

  7. Provide Feedback and Growth Opportunities: Regular feedback helps volunteers understand their performance and areas for improvement, while also providing them with opportunities for growth. This can enhance intrinsic motivation as volunteers see their progression and personal development.

  8. Encourage Peer Support and Collaboration: Promote a culture of peer support and collaboration, where volunteers help and learn from each other. This can foster a sense of accomplishment and community, enhancing intrinsic motivation.

  9. Regular Check-Ins: Conduct regular check-ins with volunteers to understand their engagement levels and address any challenges they might be facing.

  10. Evaluate and Adapt: Regularly evaluate the effectiveness of the engagement and motivation strategies, and adapt them based on feedback from volunteers.

By following this roadmap, the Volunteer Engagement and Motivation Sub-Team can foster a high level of intrinsic motivation among volunteers, helping them stay connected with their Ikigai and contribute effectively to CrowdDoing.
