Ten Thousand Villages South Bay is a nonprofit 501(c)3 that operates a Fair Trade retail gift store which sells products ethically made by skilled artisans from around the world. By providing a market for these artisan products, we are helping families and communities in developing countries grow and thrive. We need a volunteer TREASURER and board member with Accounting/Finance professional experience to support our mission.
Ten Thousand Villages South Bay seeks an individual who will lead all financial aspects of the non-profit business as Board Treasurer and chair of the board Finance committee. The position requires expertise in
developing and monitoring an annual budget, reviewing and interpreting financial information,
providing monthly reports, guiding the board and staff in all financial matters. Experience needed in
Quickbooks Desktop being the accounting and recordkeeping system in use. Additional specific
responsibilities include:
 Handle and submit payroll (2-3 employees) on a bi-weekly basis.
 Review, enter and pay invoices.
 Reconcile credit card and bank accounts.
 Develop annual budget with store Executive Director and monitor monthly.
 Coordinate the work of other volunteers in Accounting.
 Pay payroll and sales taxes on a monthly basis.
 Provide reports for the different committees: P&L, Balance Sheet, Statement of Cash Flows.
 Lead Finance committee meeting each month.
 Attend Executive committee meeting each month.
 Attend monthly Board Meeting.
 Work with volunteer CPA and Bookkeeper to file annual tax return (form 990).
 Issue Form W2, W3, and 1099.
 Estimated monthly time requirement is 16-20 hours including meetings.
Knowledge of QuickBooks is a must. A CPA certification is highly desirable, but all candidates with the
proper experience will be considered.
