ORGANIZATION: Vinceremos Therapeutic Riding Center

Vinceremos is an equine therapeutic riding center offering therapeutic riding lessons to children and adults with cognitive, physical, psychological and developmental disabilities.

This Equine Adaptive Riding Class offers volunteer opportunities for every Thursday evening from 4:30 - 8:00 pm for 12 weeks from June 8-August 24th (July 6th is an off week).

This opportunity requires assisting in riding lessons as a leader or sidewalker, grooming, and tacking. Requirements for leading and sidewalking are the ability to lead a horse or provide support to a rider on a horse which includes the ability to walk alongside or in front of the animal. Tacking requires the ability to lift up to 25 lbs for western saddles onto and off of a horse's back.

Vinceremos’ volunteer program properly trains their volunteers and provides a safe environment to learn skills such as stable management, barn maintenance, and equine care (including grooming, bathing, tacking, and handling) while also providing experience working with those with physical, emotional, and cognitive disabilities.

Volunteers can earn community service hours. The minimum age to volunteer is 12.

For more information, contact the Volunteer Coordinator at (561) 906-9961 or email volunteer@vinceremos.org. You can also print and fill out an application online https://www.vinceremos.org/volunteer and bring it in to the office! Hope to see you soon!

Mission Statement

Vinceremos is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization serving individuals with physical, cognitive, and emotional disabilities through equine assisted activities.

Description

Vinceremos means "to overcome" or "to conquer" in Latin. The horses' gentle nature and rhythmic movement joined with our staff's extensive expertise has helped hundreds of clients conquer challenges associated with their disabilities. VTRC coordinates its services through physician/therapist referrals, group homes, school programs and individual enrollment. Vinceremos staff includes PATH International certified instructors, and of course our 17 specially-trained equine partners, selected for their patience, dependability, and rhythmic gaits. This therapeutic medium propels clients to reach goals such as:

  • Strengthening postural control and core balance
  • Improving motor function
  • Increasing ability to concentrate
  • Gaining a greater sense of self-esteem and accomplishment
  • Enhancing communication and social skills

Mastering these goals in VTRC's fun, natural, and nurturing environment, riders gain greater independence and achieve a higher quality of life. The bond that is formed between the clients and our horses often motivates them to continue their equine interest, either as a long-term therapy or as a life long recreational outlet.
