Camp Kangaroo is a free bereavement camp designed for children and teens ages 5-18 who have experienced the death of someone close to them. Camp Kangaroo provides a unique opportunity for peer bonding between children and teens facing similar life circumstances. This weekend long experience is filled with traditional, fun camp activities combined with grief education and emotional support.

Volunteers needed for the following roles:

Roo Buddies: Approved & trained volunteers responsible for all campers in their group throughout the weekend of camp. Roo Buddies will be on site the entire time during the weekend camp. They will begin by greeting the campers upon arrival, assisting them in the registration process and orientating the parents and campers to camp. Responsibilities of the Roo Buddies include overseeing campers at all times, creating a positive/fun environment and participating/facilitating sharing activities.

Activity Counselors: The primary role is to facilitate the small group sharing circles throughout the camp weekend. Counselors are responsible for reading and understanding the curriculum and materials for the sessions and implementing them during the weekend of camp. Activity counselors will be on site the entire time during the weekend of camp. Responsibilities of the activity counselors include transporting supplies for small group sessions to/from camp, helping campers share feelings/process their grief/story and ensuring that campers complete the activity during the scheduled time.

General Support Volunteers: These volunteers will be available to run supplies, help with camp set-up and/or break-down. Providing support to staff and campers as needed.
