Lenox Hill Neighborhood House, widely recognized as one of New York's premier human services providers, is a 130-year-old settlement house that provides an extensive array of effective and integrated services, which significantly improve the lives of 16,000 people in need each year on the East Side of Manhattan. We are seeking volunteers to teach an advanced level English as a Second Language class for adults. Our English as a Second Language program provides high quality, interactive language instruction to a diverse student body. We seek to increase students' language skills, confidence in speaking and comprehension of English. Volunteers are needed to two classes per week, Tuesday and Thursday, 1:30pm-3:30pm, April 9 - June 13. Classes meet at 331 East 70th Street in Manhattan. Description

Lenox Hill Neighborhood House was founded in 1894 by the Alumnae Association of Normal College (now known as Hunter College of the City University of New York) as a free kindergarten for the children of indigent immigrants. Since then, we have remained at the forefront of community advocacy and social and educational change.
