Arts & Letters Live is a literary and performing arts series for all ages that features awardwinning authors and performers of regional, national, and international acclaim. The series is recognized for its creative multidisciplinary programming-combining literature with visual arts, music, and film-and for commissioning new work from musicians, dancers, and poets inspired by works of art in the Museum’s collection and special exhibitions.

Arts & Letters Live volunteers provide logistical support for onsite and offsite programs.
Volunteer responsibilities include:
* Serving as an Usher to guide visitors to their seats and monitor VIP seating areas
* Using an Etix scanner to scan patron tickets for event entry
* Assisting with book bundle distribution including boxing and unboxing books and
maintaining lists of attendees who have picked-up their books
* Acting as an event greeter and providing support for individuals using the DMA parking
payment kiosk
* Facilitating Q&A notecard collection at select events
* Serving as a book signing assistant by helping with stick and flap to prepare books for
signing, taking photos, line management, and pushing or pulling books near the signing
table

Arts & Letters Live volunteers should be available to volunteer for approximately 3 to 5 hours per event. Volunteers will likely be scheduled for 5+ events per year, depending on the program schedule and availability of shifts. Program dates and times vary and will occasionally be located offsite at venues around the city such as SMU McFarlin Auditorium, Eisemann Center, and First United Methodist Church. Most events are scheduled on weekday evenings with occasional weekend and daytime programming.

Arts & Letters Live volunteers will receive complimentary parking in the DMA garage and admission for programs where they are scheduled to volunteer. All volunteers are required to undergo a DMA background check and track their service hours for volunteer records and reports.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
* Volunteers must be 18 or older
* Ability to work evening events at the DMA and offsite venues
* Ability to work post-event book signings
* Ability to use ticket scanning devices such as Etix scanners and iPads
* Ability to lift 25 pounds and box or unbox books
* Ability to stand for long periods of time
* Interest in literary programming
* Excellent customer service skills
