Support and serve our military community as a VA Activities Coordinator!
The VA Activities Coordinator is a regular volunteer who is willing to be responsible for organizing events and activities for the VA Support Program of Soldiers’ Angels. This includes regular events as well as special events as approved by the VA Representative.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responsible for organizing events for Soldiers’ Angels in support of the local VA Hospital as well as oversight of Angels participating in VA events.
- Must be able to anticipate project needs, discern work priorities, and meet deadlines with little supervision, and be willing to work events on occasional evenings and weekends.
- Plan regular events for patients (e.g. luncheons, pizza parties, Bingo, movie nights) to help boost morale.
- Assist VA Representative to solicit donors to sponsor events, as well as coordinate with the Center for Development and Civic Engagement (CDCE).
- Responsible for making sure that all VA Activities volunteers are aware of policies and procedures to ensure a consistent quality of service, and to set clear expectations of each volunteer.
- Serve as liaison with VA Voluntary Service Coordinator on event-related matters.
- Conduct After-Action-Review of events to include sharing stories, pictures, quotes and event statistics with VA Representative.
- Maintain positive Social Media presence during events to include posting pictures and captions as they happen.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Willing to go through the VA hospital’s CDCE volunteer application and orientation process.
- Meet the local VA volunteer requirements, which will include background check and any medical requirements, e.g., vaccines.
- Have reliable source of transportation.
- A genuine desire to serve veterans.
- A love for VA special event management, be enthusiastic, and able to build relationships with internal and external volunteers and service providers.
- Excellent communication skills; including writing, proof reading skills, and speaking.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and work assignments from a variety of staff and volunteers.
- Ability to accomplish projects with little supervision.
- Highly organized.
- Strong interpersonal skills and an ability to work with a diverse variety of individuals.

Soldiers' Angels HQ located in San Antonio, Texas supports the South Texas Veterans Affairs Healthcare System which encompasses the greater San Antonio metropolitan area and Kerrville.
Soldiers' Angels has many wonderful programs to support our military families, deployed service members, wounded service members and veterans. Our programs are broken into categories based on the population they serve. Soldiers' Angels offers programs for wounded, deployed, families, and others. Most of our programs could not be possible without the support of the wonderful Angels who dedicate their time, money and talents, to the organization.
"May No Soldier Go Unloved" encapsulates the motivation behind Soldiers' Angels. The volunteers of Soldiers' Angels work tirelessly supporting our nation's veterans, wounded heroes, deployed service members and their families.
In 2017 alone, Soldiers’ Angels provided over $17 million in aid to over 360,000 service members, veterans, wounded heroes, and military families. Soldiers’ Angels volunteers are the heart of the organization and logged over 148,000 volunteer hours just in 2017!
