Lighthouse Guild is proud to announce it’s time to recruit volunteers to serve as program assistants for the Saturday Youth Programs. The Saturday Youth Programs serves youngsters ages 6 -13 known as "Youth Skills" and teens ages 14 to 21 known as "Youth Transitions". These blind or visually impaired youth come together to learn, play and socialize with activities designed to help them achieve greater academic, personal and social success in their mainstream schools. Since most of them attend their neighborhood schools alongside sighted peers, this program provides an important opportunity for connecting with others who share a common bond.

We are currently looking for 4-6 volunteers for our "Youth Skills Program". Volunteers are needed approximately two (2) Saturdays per month from 8:45 am to 2:30 pm starting October 26, 2024, and lasting through May 3, 2025.

Opportunity Summary:

The volunteer will support the teachers in the several classes and activities offered during the program. They will be required to monitor the youth as they move between classes and provide support on field trips.

  • Assist instructors in classes such as arts and crafts, computers, and physical education.
