Habitat for Humanity Bay-Waveland currently has 1 main program that is ongoing which is a new build home construction. We are working in Bay St. Louis on 1 new home in 2023, and starting a home in Pearl River County in November.

The work that we will be doing varies by the day, however it will be within the construction field in general. Whether that is framing, painting, finishing, or repairing is determined a minimum of 2 weeks ahead of time, so you will be given ample time to plan for your service opportunity with us.

We provide all tools, safety equipment, snacks, and water. A volunteer only needs to bring a light lunch, wear close toed shoes, as it is a construction site, and be willing to learn on the job. No previous experience or specific skill set required, but it is always appreciated.

Mission Statement

Seeking to put God’s love into action, Habitat Bay Waveland brings people together to build homes, communities, and hope.

Description

What We Do

We build affordable housing for hard-working low-income families in Hancock and Pearl River counties, but there’s much more to our story.

Through homeowner education, we prepare families for the life-changing experience of home ownership. We don’t give houses away; We sell homes to qualified low-income families and give them a 0% interest loan for up to 30 years.

Our home ownership, critical home repair, and weatherization programs contribute to family stability. Habitat homeowners are all low-income first time home buyers. Almost without exception, they were previously renters. The impact of homeownership on their lives is long lasting and transformative.
