ORGANIZATION: Meals on Wheels San Francisco

Give 2-3 hours a week to feed seniors in your community. Meals on Wheel’s Home Delivered Grocery Program volunteers pack or deliver groceries each Wednesday morning to housebound older adults in San Francisco.

Bag Assembly (6-8 AM): come help pack groceries from 6-8 AM at our Bayview headquarters.

Delivery (8:30-11): come to our headquarters to pick up grocery bags and a list of client delivery addresses.

Requirements:

  • 3-month commitment
  • Covid vaxxed and boosted
  • Must be able to lift bags of groceries
  • Delivery drivers must have access to a vehicle
  • Must be 18 years or older
Meals on Wheels San Francisco serves clients solely in San Francisco, CA. We require all our volunteers to fill out an application on our website, attend an online orientation and one-on-one call with our staff, complete all program-related training, and submit to a background check.

Meals on Wheels San Francisco is committed to the belief that all seniors have the right to live independently with dignity and respect in their own homes for as long as safely possible. It is our mission to provide isolated homebound older adults in San Francisco with nutritious meals, daily human contact, and supportive services to prevent their premature institutionalization.
