Clerical or office volunteers needed at Sutter Care at Home Hospice in Alameda. Gain work experience, professional references, or just feel good about contributing to your community! Become a valued member of our hospice team in Alameda!
Office volunteers will receive training and assist the nursing team, bereavement program and the hospice volunteer program with filing, mailings, event planning, organizing, creating patient packets and other tasks. Volunteer tasks will be assigned according to interests and skills. If interested, we have an annual event taking place in November and looking for event volunteers.
Sutter Care at Home is seeking committed volunteers, 18 years of age and older, to assist in our office for at least one year and can volunteer 2 hours per week.

Description
To become a hospice volunteer at Sutter Care at Home the greatest gift you can offer is your time, your caring nature, and your willingness to listen. Training and ongoing support are provided to all volunteers, so experience is not required. It's a great opportunity to learn new skills and enhance existing ones. Volunteers are trained to enhance the overall goal of meeting the physical, emotional, spiritual and practical needs of hospice patients and their families.
Volunteers may stay with the patient to give the caregiver some time away or time to rest and they can be a caring companion and compassionate listener to both patients and families. While volunteers cannot provide clinical or personal care, they may be able to assist with routine tasks and errands.
Requirements: Volunteers receive 24 hours of training, health clearance and a background check, and attend monthly educational meetings. They must work closely with Volunteer Program Coordinator as members of the hospice team.
