Recruiting Organization: Notre Dame Mission Volunteers, AmeriCorps: Rochester

Notre Dame Mission Volunteers, AmeriCorps (NDMVA) is seeking applicants to serve as a Full-time AmeriCorps Members at Nativity Preparatory School in Rochester from September 2023-July 2024.

Nativity Preparatory Academy is a Catholic middle school dedicated to transforming the lives of underserved students through strong academics coupled with a sense of spirituality, morality, and personal responsibility. They deliver a uniquely effective education through an extended school day and school year, dedicated and caring teachers, personal mentoring, and continuing support--all within a secure and nurturing environment that encourages personal development. Nativity Preparatory Academy is different because of thier students--and because of how they teach them. Their students come from a variety of diverse backgrounds, with more than 20 nationalities and multiple faith traditions represented. But they all have several things in common: they have not been well served by the schools they attended and are several years behind grade level when they first arrive at Nativity; and they come from families that while economically challenged, truly care about education.

The AmeriCorps Members will serve as Teaching Assistants and in general school support roles including tutoring, small group instruction, and the after school program. The school has many options of ways to serve and individual applicants will be screened for suitability in a variety of roles based on their interests and abilities.
